Frozen Hot Chocolate
This icy, chocolatey Frozen Hot Chocolate is my go-to when I’m craving something sweet and cool but don’t want the heaviness of ice cream. Made with chocolate milk, your favorite hot cocoa mix, and loads of ice, it blends into a creamy, frothy treat that tastes like a slushy milkshake but way easier to make.

It comes together in just minutes and feels totally special, especially when you pile on whipped cream and chocolate shavings. It’s kid-friendly, crowd-pleasing, and totally customizable depending on your mood. Whether you’re cooling down on a hot day or just want a fun twist on a classic drink, this one’s always a hit.

Ingredients

Add the ice, chocolate milk, and powdered hot chocolate mix to your high-speed blender. I love using mine because it makes quick work of the ice and gives you that ultra-smooth, slushy texture without chunks.

Blend on high for about a minute, or until everything is completely smooth and icy. A blender tamper can come in handy here if the mixture gets stuck. Just give it a gentle push to keep everything moving without stopping the machine.

Pour the frozen hot chocolate into glasses. I like using wide-mouth mason jars for easy filling and a fun, casual presentation. They’re sturdy, cute, and great for layering on those toppings.
Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings or sprinkles, if you want to dress it up. I keep a handheld milk frother around for quickly whipping up fresh cream when I don’t want to pull out a mixer. It’s fast, mess-free, and makes it feel extra special.

Serve immediately and enjoy while it’s cold and frothy.

Chef Jenn’s Tips
- Use full-fat chocolate milk for a richer texture, but any kind will work.
- If your blender needs help, add a splash more milk to get things moving.
- For a darker, more intense chocolate flavor, use a dark cocoa mix or add a spoonful of unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Want to make it fancy? Swirl a little chocolate syrup inside the glass before pouring.

Serving Suggestions
This is a great way to end a summer dinner or enjoy as a sweet treat with brunch. I like serving it alongside waffles, French toast, or even a light sandwich for that perfect balance of indulgent and refreshing.

Storage
Frozen Hot Chocolate is best served fresh, but you can freeze leftovers in a sealed container. Let it sit out for 10 to 15 minutes to soften slightly, then re-blend before serving. You can also freeze it in popsicle molds for a fun frozen snack.
